Now this is what I call camping! We finally got a great site at a great campground, Icicle River RV Resort. We would have been happy to stay here a week. We were parked right on a beautiful river with rapids flowing over rocks and a mountain behind it. Birds, deer, good neighbors and cool wind.
Loved it! Did not want to leave.
Joe couldn't get enough of it.
But we did venture into lovely Leavenworth, a Bavarian style town created after the logging industry faded. It's what you would typically label a "tourist trap", but at least it was done with style
Also went to one of the many fresh fruit markets. I bought some Rainier cherries, which were wonderful and some apricots. I have never eaten fresh apricots - Yum.
As most of you know, Joe will talk to a fence post.
He met the nicest fellow at the market.
We had lunch at a German restaurant and believe it or not, our waitress' name was Heidi. She posed for us with Jim, our senior member of the caravan. He's almost 92 and still has a way with the ladies. Jim is also a survivor of the Bataan Death March. He is a widow and travels alone, pulling a very large 5th wheel. I don't know how he does it. His motto is "Never give up!" If he can handle this cross country traveling - I should be able to too!
Tomorrow we're off to Yakima, WA to see Mt. Rainier.
